Chinese medicine is one of the oldest forms of healing known to humankind. It has been successfully practiced for some 5000 years. Chinese medicine is holistic and based on nature. When taken properly, after consultation with TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) doctors, it will help build up ones' body, immune system and boost energy, resulting in a preventive effect.
Acupuncture & Natural Herbs
Acupuncture - How does it work?
The central concept involved in acupuncture is that the body is self healing. That as living beings we are all naturally full of vitality and are continually, and are quite unconsciously being re-balanced and re-generated from within. Acupuncture sees the body as a self-rectifying dramatic whole, a network of interrelating and interacting energies. Their even distribution and flow maintains health, but any interruption, depletion or stagnation leads to disease. Acupuncture is a system of medicine which seeks to aid these natural processes, helping the body correct itself by a realignment or redirection of energy, which the Chinese call Chi.
Another method used in Chinese medicine was moxibustion. This involved placing a cone of moxa (the powdered leaves of the mugwart plant) on particular acupuncture points and setting them alight. This was believed to increase the amount of Yang in the body.
In acupuncture we use pre-sterilised, single use disposable needles to guarantee complete safety.
Natural Herbs - How do they work?
Chinese herbs are an integral part of Chinese medicine. There are over four hundred Chinese herbs. They include roots, stalks, leaves, bark, flowers and minerals etc. Each herb has healing properties, which is used for specific purposes and perform particular functions. They regulate the organism and harmonise its system. Chinese medical theory uses herbs in their most natural state causing no side effects if taken under the consultation of a qualified Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor. Chinese herbs not only have great healing power, but also have a profound preventative effect.
With or without acupuncture, Chinese herbs can be a powerful therapy. The herbs are use both internally and externally.
Internally: In tea form it is brewed and drunk as a decoction which is more powerful and rapid in activating, but bitter.
Externally: Creams, lotions, compresses, sprays, plasters and herbal washes.
Other forms: Tablets, capsules, powders, oral liquid and herbal extracts.
